On January 22, 2020, the Warren and Downey Basketball Teams will unite in the fight against pediatric cancer. For one night, the hometown rivals will work together for a cause that is poignant and inspiring–raising awareness for pediatric cancer.
The statistics surrounding pediatric cancer are alarming. Every year, over 15,000 children are diagnosed with cancer; every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer. 12% of children diagnosed with cancer tragically do not survive. The average age of children diagnosed with cancer is 6. More than 40,000 children undergo treatment for cancer each year. 60% of children who survive cancer suffer late-effects in the latter half of their lives (curesearch.org). Warren and Downey plan to join forces in an effort to raise awareness and funds toward pediatric cancer so that more research and development can help alleviate (and eventually eradicate) these numbers.
We are asking supporters to join us in the fight against pediatric cancer. There are different methods for contributing to the cause. You can DONATE! Please follow the link to make a contribution toward the Downey Unified team: https://donate.go4thegoal.org/downeyunified Donating is simple–select the “DONATE” icon, choose a donation amount, submit the required information, and complete the process by selecting the “GIVE NOW” icon. The donation is tax deductible. The primary focus is financial assistance for patients and families. Many are struggling so much with just trying to make daily ends meet, and that’s where Go4Goal steps in.
Additionally, please join us at the game on January 22 at 5:00PM in the Warren Gym and wear gold! We want to gold out the arena in an effort to show solidarity in our fight against pediatric cancer.
Please join us in this incredible cause!
